【毎日更新】海外大学生が留学中に使用した英単語

こんにちは!

この記事は、筆者が留学中に使用した英単語やフレーズを紹介していきます。

英語の勉強というと、単語量と言われることもありますが、事実正しくはあります。

ただし、解釈は「幅広い表現」が使えるかどうかです。

難しい単語を覚える場面も必要ですが、日常でも学校でも、中学レベルの単語で作られるイディオムやフレーズが頻繁に出てきます。

私が留学生にお勧めしたいのは、この簡単な単語で横に表現を広げていくことです。

Word skill

hit the gym

meaning : ジムに行く

Sample sentence : I am going to hit the gym today, wanna join?

put on

meaning : gaining weigh

Sample sentence : I knew I have put on these days....

work out

meaning : make your body fit and strong by doing a regular exercises.

Sample sentence : He works out at the gym every 2 days.

have a thing about 〇〇

meaning : have a strong liking for or dislike of something or someone.

Sample sentence : she has a thing about Kimuchi.

cut-price

meaning : sold at a reduced price

Sample sentence : look at this shirt, I bought this with cut-price at bazaar.

well-equipped

meaning : with all the things you need

Sample sentence : the kitchen was well-equipped so that I do not have to purchase anythings.

hustle and bustle

meaning : busy, noisy activity of a lot of people in one place.

Sample sentence : Tokyo especially Shibuya is always hustle and bustle.

in need of

meaning : in a situation when something is necessary.

Sample sentence : He is in need of money to go to university.

wind something up

meaning : close a business

Sample sentence : the company I worked with wind up one of his business of baby cloths.

all of a sudden

meaning : very quickly

Sample sentence : all of a sudden, she decided not to come to school and go back her country.

ring a bell

meaning : sound familiar

Sample sentence : it rung a bell when he talked about ancient music culture.

make friends

meaning : become a friend

Sample sentence : I was nervous at first day of the class because I was not sure if I could make friends.

Call it a day

meaning : stop working or doing something today

Sample sentence : Let's call it a day,
